When the Lies You Tell Yourself Keep You Stuck: How God Sets You Free From Self-Sabotage

Some of the most damaging lies are the ones we repeat to ourselves every day.

“I’m not good enough.”

“I always mess things up.”

“I’ll never change.”

“I don’t deserve better.”

“God could never use someone like me.”

These thoughts may feel true because you’ve repeated them for so long, but feelings are not facts. When we believe lies, we begin making decisions based on those lies. We settle for less, shrink back from opportunities, stay in unhealthy relationships, and sabotage our own growth.

Jesus said in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Freedom begins when you replace the lies with God’s truth:

• The lie: “I’m not enough.”

The truth: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

• The lie: “I can’t change.”

The truth: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

• The lie: “My past defines me.”

The truth: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

The battlefield is often in your mind. Every time you choose God’s truth over your old beliefs, you take another step toward healing, confidence, and freedom.

Today, ask yourself: What lie have I been believing about myself that God never said?
