When Evil Looks Good: Understanding “Satan Masquerades as an Angel of Light” | 2 Corinthians 11:14
Short Lesson:
In Second Epistle to the Corinthians11:14, the apostle Paul the Apostle warns believers that Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. This means deception rarely looks dark or dangerous at first. Often, it appears attractive, comforting, and even good.
Just like poison that tastes like honey, deception appeals to our desires before revealing its destruction. This is why spiritual discernment is so important. Not everything that looks good, feels good, or sounds spiritual actually comes from God.
Jesus taught that truth brings freedom. When we stay rooted in Scripture, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we develop the ability to recognize when something is disguised as light but leads us away from truth.
Discernment grows when we stay close to God’s Word. The closer we walk with Him, the easier it becomes to recognize deception.
